Horses are the same whatever their breed, age, shape or discipline. You use the same feed ingredients but alter the amounts according to needs. A beautifully simple 'pick and mix' system.

Its just a marketing technique.  Horse feeds all contain the same basic ingredients, just mixed in varying amounts to suit the pictures on the front of the bag.  We could mix up the feed and bag it separately, but we know you are cleverer than that!  Learn how to mix your feeds tailor-made for your own horse, and guarantee using only the finest ingredients - we explain how.

  1. Equine Pure Essentials Base Mix - a highly concentrated source of protein, essential oils, vitamins, minerals, micronutrients, prebiotics, probiotics, and botanicals to support a healthy gut function.  Use this as the base feed for all types of horses.  From foals to world-class racing stallions, all horses require the same in terms of the above nutrients.  Its not rocket science - its just the amount that differs.  See feeding guide for details.   2. Just Pure Grass - a straight grass chaff containing no molasses, preservatives, economy oils, economy flavourings, etc.  Just pure grass.  Add a large handful to the Base Mix to give texture, encourage the horse to chew his food thoroughly and provide just sufficient quality fibre to intersperse the ingredients for enzymic digestion in the horse's gut.  Feed to all types and ages of horses.
  3. Equine Pure Essentials Mature Organic Oats - add these to give extra power, stamina and some extra metabolic co-factors that balance beautifully with the Base Mix. These are specially selected oats and will not 'hot' up your horse if you feed them as we recommend.  Ideal for horses in work, from leisure horses to competition horses in intense training.  Again, its just the amount that differs.  We also recommend a small amount for metabolic horses (including laminitis and Cushings).  'Oh my word!', we hear you gasp!   4. Non-Chemically Stabilised Rice Bran - human food grade produced rice bran, stabilised by a unique process which does not involve the use of chemicals.  No molasses, no pelleting agents.  For horses requiring even more energy or condition from an oil-based feed, rather than starch or sugar based.  Ideal for competition horses in very hard work, show ponies or sale production to gain condition without the risk of feeding too much starch and sugars.  More info

Equine Pure Essentials Gut Balancers - a complete range of herbal-based supplements to complement the feeds above.  Here at Thunderbrook Equestrian, we found that our horses benefitted so much from the Equine Pure Essentials feeding system that our dependency on supplements for problems such as respiratory COPD, dermatitis, behavioural issues, etc stopped.  But you may need a herbal boost to help support the feed - see the full range for details.  More info
  6. The fibre is in your haynet!  Why pay top prices for bags of hard feed containing mainly chemically-treated straw, hay, alfalfa, or the inferior outer husk waste by-product of grain processing?  Trust us - we don't want to sell you bags of cheap fibre!
